You can expect a really nice adventure which you absolutely will remember for a very long time. Treks at around 2500 to 4000 meters above sea level so the hike this places is very unique and special. You will see several old Inca ruins on the way to there and eventually reach Macchu Picchu.

Humantay Lake

Located on a mountain at a height of 5,473 meters above sea level (17,956 feet) in the Cordillera de Vilcabamba in the Andes of Peru in the Cusco region.

Salkantay Mountain

The highest peak in the Vilcabamba mountain range, part of the Peruvian Andes. It is located in the Cusco Region, about 60 km west-northwest of the city of Cusco. It is the 38th-highest peak in the Andes, and the twelfth-highest in Peru. However, as a range highpoint in deeply incised terrain, it is the second most topographically prominent peak in the country, after Huascarán.

Humantay Mountain

It is located at an altitud of 5,473 masl in the Vilcabamba Range in the Andes of Peru in the region of Cusco Santa Teresa town It is one of ten districts of the La Convención Province in the Cusco Region of Peru.

Santa Teresa Town

It is one of ten districts of the La Convención Province in the Cusco Region of Peru. Santa Teresa Districts, Peru is located 6.6 km northwest of Machu Picchu and it has several important routes leading to this archeological centre of Machupicchu, including alternative paths ways to other ruins around the area. In 1998, a landslide completely buried the town and destroyed the bridge that connected it to Machu Picchu and Cusco, however the bridge has been rebuilt and now in used.

Aguas Calientes Town

it is a location Urubamba Province in the Cusco Region of Peru. It is the seat of the Machupicchu District.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu took some 30 years to construct. Built during the reign of Inca Pachacutec (1438 – 1471), Due to limited historical information the true and original name of this epic Inca citadel is unknown. Machupicchu’s name derives from the mountain that lies to the south-west of the citadel, meaning “Old Mountain.”

MachuPicchu citadel covers a vast area of approximately 9 hectares (22.3 acres), and is constructed on a mountain ridge high above the Sacred Valley. This magic and epic Inca citadel is one of South America’s greatest archaeological sites. In 1981, Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary and later in 1983, it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Relevant Information

Traveling to Cusco should not be underestimated remember that the Inca Empire is 3,400 meters (11,200 feet), therefore, we recommend consulting your doctor about altitude pills and vaccines you may need.

On Day 1 and Day 2 (from Marcoccasa to Chaullay), a team of muleteers and mules will carry all camping equipment, food and personal belongings (maximum 7 kg/15lb per person). On Day 3, your luggage will be sent by car to the Hydroelectric Train Station.
Visit to Wayna Picchu: To climb Wayna Picchu or Montaña, you need to book months in advance. We take care of the reservation and guarantee your entrance for Wayna Picchu. Entrance costs an additional fee of $20.00USD.
Tips: Porters, cooks and guides always appreciate tips for their services. The porters are also grateful for small donations of clothes and school supplies for their children.
Student Card: For the $ 20.00 student discount, you must have a current ISIC student card with valid expiration dates and a photo when booking – not just when you arrive in Cusco! Please send a copy of your student card when booking, and bring the actual card with you.
CANCELLATION: For any last-minute cancellation, the expenses already made by the agency will be at your expense.

Itinerary

Day 1CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – MARCOCCASA – SORAY PAMPA

We leave Cusco at 5:30am by private transport to reach Marcoccasa (3400m/11150f), and the village of Mollepata where we’ll have breakfast. There we’ll meet the muleteers, and begin hiking in a beautiful valley surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains, such as Nevado Humantay (5217m/17116f) and the towering peak of Salkantay. We’ll cross different valleys, seeing a bit of the life of local farmers, before reaching our first campsite in Soray Pampa (3900m/12795f). Our chef will await you with hot drinks, snacks, and dinner. The night will be cold due to the elevation.

Optional: On the way to Soray Pampa, we strongly recommend making a 2-hour detour to see Humantay Lake and the snow-covered peak of Humantay. You’ll have to ascend from Soray Pampa (3900m/12800F) to Humantay (4220m/12800f).

Day 2SORAY PAMPA- SALKANTAY PASS – RAYAMPATA

After an early breakfast, we hike to Col du Salkantay (4600m/15090f), which offers an exceptional view of the snowy peak of Salkantay. This morning is the most challenging of the trek – and well worth it. We’ll take a break at the summit, weather-permitting. Then we’ll hike downhill through a different ecosystem with lush vegetation. We’ll arrive in Rayampata, our next campsite, for a snack and dinner. This night will be warmer than the previous one.

Day 3ANDENES – LUCMABAMBA – HYDROELECTRIC STATION – AGUAS CALIENTES TOWN

After breakfast, we walk 01 hour get Chaullay to continue to Lucmabamba (2000m/5651f),where we have our lunch before to take our car to Santa Teresa where we have time for the hot spring before to continue down to Hydroelectric train station (1950m/6398f), where you are able to take the train to Aguas Calientes town (2050m/6726f). Overnight in Hotel of Aguas Calientes town.

Day 4AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

We’ll leave our hotel after breakfast at 5:30am, and ascend to Machu Picchu (2400m/7874) by tourist bus. We’ll arrive at the citadel around 6:00am to enjoy the sunrise. After a guided tour, including information about the life and customs of the Incas, you’ll have time to explore Machu Picchu, and climb Wayna Picchu if you have advanced reservations (2750m/9022f).
We’ll leave Aguas Calientes by train in the afternoon. While waiting for the train, you’ll have time for lunch and to soak in the natural springs before your departure.
